Harold Schoenhaus, DPM, FACFAS

Harold Schoenhaus, DPM, FACFAS is a board-certified foot, rearfoot, and reconstructive ankle surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a past president and current fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds staff appointments and operating privileges at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital and Chestnut Hill hospital. Dr Schoenhaus' research and clinical interests are in biomechanics, pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery, including joint replacement surgery and pediatric podiatric surgery. Moreover, Dr Schoenhaus is the surgical editor for PRESENT e-Learning Systems, an online medical education and networking resource dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals throughout the world. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and pioneer in the field of lower extremity pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery. Dr Schoenhaus has authored several landmark articles in peer-reviewed journals and books. In 2015 Dr Schoenhaus was the recipient of the Gallery of Success Award from Temple University.

Elizabeth Bondi, DPM, MS is a Podiatrist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology: Sports Medicine. At DePauw, she was a member of the tennis and basketball teams. In 2007, she won a NCAA Singles National Championship in tennis and was a member of the NCAA National Championship basketball team. In addition she received the Honda Award for Division III Female Athlete of the Year. After graduation, she played on the ITF tennis circuit. She then earned a Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a certificate in Healthcare Administration and Management from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She received a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 2015, and was recognized as a Swanson Scholar and additionally received The Orthotics Group Award for academic excellence. Thereafter, she completed her residency at the Yale Foot and Ankle Surgical Residency Program, serving as chief resident during her final year. During her time at Yale, she also completed the Bako Podiatric Dermatology Mini Fellowship in Georgia. Since residency, she has become a Fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine. Dr Bondi has a passion for sports medicine and has served as a medical team volunteer for Ironman 70.3 Waco and the Chicago Marathon. Her treatment philosophy focuses on preventative medicine, biomechanics, and nutrition. Her experience and knowledge of various sports provides her with a keen understanding and appreciation for the dynamics and movements required for athletes to minimize their injury risks and return to their sport. She understands that every patient is unique and she creates an individualized, evidence-based, treatment plan for each patient based on his or her goals and activities. In her free time, Dr Bondi enjoys training for triathlons and playing tennis.

Maryellen Brucato, DPM, FACFAS is a board certified foot and ankle reconstructive surgeon who owns and operates a private practice in Northern New Jersey. Dr. Brucato has been recognized as a leader in her field serving as faculty for AO North America as well as the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is the Chair of the ACFAS Practice Management Committee and sits on the executive board for the ACFAS Tri-state Region. She lectures across the country on a variety of surgical topics and has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Brucato remains a committed educator in the field of foot and ankle surgery.

Jeffrey Cusack, DPM, DABPM is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics & Pediatrics, New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He received his BS degree in Chemistry at the University of Miami, Florida. Dr Cusack is passionate about biomechanics; when he sees a foot problem; whether callus or bunion or something else; he thinks about what the cause could be from a biomechanical point of view. Why is the callus or bunion located where it is? The mechanics of the foot determine the location.

Michael Donato, DPM

Michael Donato, DPM, co-owner of Rappahannock Foot & Ankle Specialists, joined the practice in 2002. He obtained his AB in Economics from Princeton University in 1986. He graduated as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1999. He went on to complete a three year Podiatric Surgery and Primary Podiatric Medicine Residency Program at Yale-New Haven Hospital - VA Healthcare System in West Haven, CT. He is a Fellow and Immediate Past President of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons; Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is Board Certified in Foot, and Rearfoot Reconstructive/Ankle Surgery; Fellow, American Professional Wound Care Association; and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the Virginia Podiatric Medical,Association. As an O2X human performance specialist he provides education regarding footwear selection and gait analysis to first responders, military personnel, elite organizations, and other tactical athletes . He is a regular medical volunteer at the Marine Corps Marathon and the other associated Marine Corps Marathon Race Events. He is a USA Hockey level 4 hockey coach and after years of being a head coach he currently serves as an assistant coach for the Piedmont Predator Youth Hockey Club. He is an avid crossfitter and hockey player who participates in masters crossfit competitions and adult hockey tournaments. Dr Donato primarily practices out of the Fredericksburg location. He has privileges at Mary Washington Hospital, Stafford Hospital Center, Surgi-Center of Central Virginia and Fredericksburg Ambulatory Surgery Center. He was named Northern Virginia Magazine's Top Doctors in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

He serves as a surgical training course director, instructor, and lecturer. Dr Guberman is the author of numerous articles in Foot and Ankle Medicine and Surgery and Wound Care.

Samantha Landau, DPM, MPH, FFPM RCPS(Glasg)

Samantha Landau, DPM, MPH, FFPM RCPS (Glasg) is a faculty member at NYCPM in the Department of Orthopedics and Pediatrics. She graduated from SUNY College at Geneseo in 2013 with a BS in Business Administration, and with minors in both biology and chemistry. Enrolled in the dual-degree program of NYCPM and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai, she obtained her MPH (with an emphasis on healthcare management) in 2016, after only two years, the first student to do so in the history of the program. She obtained her DPM degree in 2018. Dr Landau completed her residency at NYCPM/Metropolitan in 2021 as chief resident. COVID intervened while she was at Metro, and for her efforts there, she received Schneps Media’s Health Care Hero Award. (Schneps is a major New York-based publisher of digital and physical media, especially of community newspapers.) She also has Standard Ankle Surgery privilege in New York and is Board Certified by ABPM. Dr Landau has many publications including some being deemed original research. With an interest in surgical biomechanics, Dr Landau completed a fellowship in “Post-Graduate Fellowship Training in Biomechanics and Gait-Related Disorders of the Lower Extremity in Children and Adults" at NYCPM. During her training she spent time at the Hospital for Special Surgery in the Leon Root Motion Analysis Lab, with both Drs Joseph C. D’Amico and Cusack, and in pediatric podiatry by Drs Volpe and Resseque. Dr Landau loves taking biomechanical concepts and incorporating them into surgical applications. Dr Landau is also on the executive board for NYSPMA King Division. NYSPMA is the top organization in New York State that represents the interests of podiatrists with the state legislature as well as with insurance companies.

Robert D Phillips, DPM

Robert D Phillips, DPM graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1979. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatry Foot and Ankle Surgery, Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and a Member of the American Society of Biomechanics. Dr Phillips is a past Professor of Podiatric Medicine at Des Moines University and a past Residency Director at Coatesville VA Hospital. He has been working in the Veterans Health Administration for the past 23 years. . He has been the recipient of four Stickel Awards and one Scholl Award for research in biomechanics subjects. He is also the Associate Editor for Biomechanics, Journal of the American Podiatric Medical. Dr Phillips gives several lectures a year in biomechanics of the foot.

Jarrod Shapiro, DPM, FACFAS, FACPM is a Board-Certified podiatric foot and ankle physician and surgeon who has been in practice for almost 20 years. He is also a fellow with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr Shapiro has taught at Western University for the past 13 years and is a full professor and associate dean of clinical affairs. He is the residency program director at the Chino Valley Medical Center PMSR/RRA program in Chino, California. Dr Shapiro's training includes a 3-year foot and ankle residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan after graduating from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA in 2003. After completing his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at the California College of Podiatric Medicine, he did his 3-year postgraduate training at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan from 2003 - 2006. Robert Smith, DPM, MSc, RPh, FNAP, received his BS degree in Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1983. He then received his DPM degree from the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University in 1999. He completed a PPMR at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, AZ in 2000. Dr Smith obtained his certification in Pedorthics from BCP in 2001. He completed postgraduate training with the College of Medicine at the University of Wales, Cardiff, Wales, and UK in wound care and tissue repair. He received his Master of Science degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Wales, UK in 2006. Dr Smith’s research centers on Infection Prevalence, Infection Control and Wound Care. He is a consultant to the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners. He is a contributing editor and reviewer to JAPMA in the areas of Podiatric Clinical Pharmacology. He has authored over 100 refereed journal articles for the disciplines of Pharmacy, Podiatry, and Wound Care. He has lectured for APMA, FPMA, IPMS, and PFA. He has operated his sole practice: “Shoe Sting Podiatry”. He is the Founder and President of Studying Opioid Harm, Inc a non-profit educational company to build and develop tools to educate and mitigate the harm from opioids. Dr Smith is the chairman of the Podiatric Academy for the National Academy of Practice since 2020.

Michael Troiano, DPM, FACFAS is a 2004 graduate of Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He completed residency at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is in private practice at the Center for Foot and Ankle Disorders in Philadelphia. He is Adjunct Clinical Professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in the Department of Surgery, he teaches Biomechanics, and MRI reading. Dr Troiano is a board certified in foot, rear foot, and reconstructive ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds staff and teaching appointments at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital, Temple University Hospital, Penn Wound Care Center, Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Abington Memorial Hospital and the Foot and Ankle Specialty Center. He takes foot and ankle trauma call at Temple University Hospital and Penn- Presbyterian Medical Center, is a director of the Penn Wound Care Center and is a nationally and internationally recognized lecturer. He has authored and co-authored several journals, articles, and chapters published in various peer reviewed journals and books.

Daniel Yaeger, DPM

Daniel Yaeger, DPM serves in the Department of Surgery at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He earned his BS in biology and rabbinic ordination from the Lander College for Men. He then went on to complete podiatry school and his residency at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, serving as the academic coordinator his final year. Following residency Dr Yaeger joined the surgery department. Currently, Dr Yaeger works at NYC HHC Metropolitan and Lincoln. His duties include out-patient clinic, ER call, and management of inpatients. He has the privilege to work with 3rd and 4th year students as well as residents at the NYCPM / Metropolitan hospital residency. His primary interests are limb salvage, diabetic foot infections, forefoot deformity, Charcot reconstruction, Lisfranc and midfoot injuries, adult acquired flatfoot and delayed management of calcaneal fractures.
